Plugin configuration
Once you have the plugin installed and activated, let's configure it!

Select the products for the gift message
You need to specify the product(s) for which a customer will be able to order a gift message.
Choose in which product you want to display the gift message 💡 In the free version of the Flexible Product Fields, you have to specify products one by one. You may select products from the whole category or all products in the PRO version of the plugin. -
Show the gift message field on the product page
Once you configured where to show the group fields, you can create and configure the fields. You can use any label you want. It will show on the product page and in the cart.

It is a good idea to transfer this cost to your customers. You can set any price you want for such a feature so you can make some profit out of it, too.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the Price type and Price settings appear after activating the PRO version.
This is how the text field looks on the product page. Of course, when the text field is empty (there's no message typed by a customer), then the standard price value will be used.
The moment your customer starts typing in the text field, an additional cost will be added to the product price.
Charging for a gift message also signals to customers that it's a genuine, cared-for feature rather than an afterthought. Just like professional gift wrapping or engraving, a written message often carries emotional weight disproportionate to its actual cost to fulfill — which is exactly why many customers are willing to pay a small premium for it. I think that it is a good idea to place a checkbox on the product page and to show the text field for gift messages only when the checkbox has been checked.

Hi Johnnie, it looks like something is messed up with the CSS for this element. Maybe the theme’s CSS you are currently using is overwriting the field’s default CSS rules.

Hello Mike. All the information is saved as item meta. The print/export plugin should be able to get the data from the item meta from the order.
